| Qualified companies that create at least 100 jobs and invest a significant amount of money are allowed a credit of up to 100 percent of certain capital costs for a specific project. The credit is claimed against corporate income tax over a 20-year period. Companies can qualify for 100 percent of eligible costs for a project of $100-million or more; 75 percent for a project of at least $50-million but less than $100-million, and 50 percent for a project of at least $25-million and less than $50-million. The governor's office has approved nine companies to get this tax break. By law, the Revenue Department cannot disclose which companies have claimed any of the credit or how much they have claimed. |
