ST. PETERSBURG - In the last game of its first football season, the Canterbury School of Florida celebrated its first victory, outscoring Mount Dora Bible Academy 14-7.

"We ended the year with a winning streak of one," said Russ Ball, director of Canterbury's Knowlton campus.

The Crusaders also received the Pinellas County Referees Association sportsmanship trophy, awarded by those who officiate at all public and private school football games throughout the county.

"So it's a big deal," Ball said.

As the Crusaders' inaugural season began, the team was the newest and least experienced in the county.
