TAMPA - A 64-year-old Lutz woman was killed Sunday in an early morning wreck on N Dale Mabry Highway.

Theodora W. Fox, of Arborglen Court, was driving south on Dale Mabry about 6:30 a.m. when Cynthia R. Nabors pulled her Nissan Xterra into Fox's path at Lutz-Lake Fern Road, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Witnesses told the FHP that Nabors, 36, of Garden Quilt Circle in Lutz, had a red light; Nabors told the FHP she saw green.

Her SUV slammed into the right side of Fox's Saturn sedan, which flipped over, ejecting Fox. Fox was not wearing a seat belt. She was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

Nabors agreed to submit to a blood test and results were incomplete Sunday. The investigation was ongoing Sunday evening and no charges had been filed.

Police report man stabbed to death, assailant at large

TAMPA - A 21-year-old man was stabbed and killed late Saturday while attending a New Year's party at an acquaintance's apartment.

Hillsborough County sheriff's deputies said Johnny Maldonado-Padilla, of 1261 Sand Lake Circle, got into an argument about 11:30 p.m. over money and CDs with Jose Luis Fuentes-Garcia while at a party at Fuentes-Garcia's home, 1804 French Creek Drive.

Others at the party broke up the fight and Maldonado-Padilla walked outside. Fuentes-Garcia, 19, picked up a knife and followed, according to the Sheriff's Office. He stabbed Maldonado-Padilla and fled, authorities said.

Maldonado-Padilla died at the scene. Fuentes-Garcia remained at-large. The two men moved from Honduras to Tampa at the same time, a sheriff's representative said.

Dover man killed when car hits pole

TAMPA - A 19-year-old Dover man who died Sunday afternoon after crashing into a utility pole was speeding and he wasn't wearing a seat belt, according to sheriff's investigators.

Jacobo Cruz, of 15402 Sydney Road, was driving a 1994 Oldsmobile south on Sydney Dover Road in southeast Hillsborough at about 4 p.m. He sped around a curve where Sydney Dover meets Sydney Washer Road, lost control of the car and slid sideways into a concrete TECO pole, according to the Sheriff's Office. He died at the scene.

He was the only person in the car, said sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Carter.
