THUMBS UP
Texas quarterback Vince Young. His play not only catapulted the Longhorns past Southern California for the national title but hopefully means we've seen the last of celebs such as Henry Winkler on the Trojan sideline/bandwagon.
THUMBS DOWN
Olympian Bode Miller confessed to 60 Minutes that he sometimes skis drunk. While watching the show tonight, millions of Americans will confess to their friends they have no idea who Bode Miller is.
WEEKLY MEMO
To Florida football coach Urban Meyer: Nobody's saying you shouldn't have won the Outback Bowl, but would it kill you to just admit you were lucky?
VOICES CARRY
"Having led the University of Texas to a national championship, Vince Young can check that off his list and move on to the next task at hand. Restore pro football to the city of Houston. His city. It has happened before. UT's Earl Campbell put the Oilers on the map a generation ago. Now is the time for Young to do the same with the Texans. Before we address that sidearm motion that brings the 6-foot-5 Young down to about 5-10 on some of his throws, let's consider his options.
"A. Stay at Texas, extend that 20-game winning streak, go for the Heisman that eluded him and be the front-runner to get to the next national championship in Arizona.
"B. Exit stage left after the greatest quarterbacking performance in a major bowl and move on to the NFL.
"Young said he will review his options with family, advisers, coaches, etc. His only choice: Take the money and run. It would be tempting to stay in Austin. Be the toast of the campus and the city like no one has ever been before. Postpone the pressures of the National Football League for a year. But that's not the answer.

FINAL THOUGHTS
Your best running back is leaving. Best offensive lineman, best receiver, best return man, two best defensive linemen, best linebacker, best cornerback and best safety, too. You still have ridiculous kicking woes. And you closed the season with four losses in five games.
And Bobby Bowden says that sounds like a program on the rise?
