UConn overpowers UC
Associated Press

HARTFORD, Conn. - Hilton Armstrong has established himself as a presence in the middle for fourth-ranked Connecticut.
Armstrong dominated inside with 14 points, 10 rebounds and six blocks to lead UConn to a 70-59 win Monday that snapped the Bearcats' 10-game win streak.
"We're a physical team. Anybody that's trying to come at us, we're right there," Armstrong said. "We're not backing down from anybody."
He came up big for the second straight game for the Huskies (13-1, 1-1), a charter member of the Big East that began in 1979. He scored six of his 11 in the final four minutes Saturday to help UConn rally from 14 down and beat LSU 67-66.
The Bearcats (13-3, 2-1) moved to the conference looking for a tougher schedule, and the Huskies accommodated with bruising, physical play.
"Any league win is good," UConn coach Jim Calhoun said. "It was a terrific defensive performance for us, a physical performance for us.
"In this league, don't bank on nine wins. There's just too many good teams."
NO.10 L'VILLE 81, UC DAVIS 58: Brandon Jenkins scored a career-high 31 to lead the host Cardinals. Jenkins made 11 of 13 shots, including 7 of 9 3-pointers, as Louisville (13-2) cruised in its final nonconference game despite playing without leading scorer Taquan Dean, who rested a sprained ankle.
