While co-anchor Mario Diaz and meteorologist Anna Allen will remain, new co-anchor Ginger Gadsden will replace Gemma Gaudette, who has been with the program since September 2004.
Gadsden comes to the station from parent company Gannett's Virginia office, where she was providing USA Today -related content to Gannett television stations across the country, including WTSP, in live, daily segments.
News director Darren Richards said Monday that when Gannett discontinued USA Today Live last month, he was eager to bring Gadsden to WTSP.
"Ginger is a tremendous talent and we're excited she's coming here," Richards said. "When she became available, it was just what made sense for us."
Gaudette will remain with the station but with more reporting duties. Her exact role hasn't been decided yet. Gadsden will join the station officially Feb. 1 and will join the morning broadcast sometime in February.
This Morning Around the Bay airs weekdays from 5 to 7 a.m. and is rated third among morning shows in the show's target audience of viewers 25 to 54 years old, up from fourth a year ago. WFLA-Ch. 8 is top rated.
