Man sentenced for fatal accident

NEW PORT RICHEY - A Plant City mortgage broker will spend seven years in prison for killing a man and seriously injuring the man's wife with his reckless driving on June 5, 2003,

Circuit Judge Joe Bulone decided Friday. Travis Branstetter, 25, was convicted in November and faced between 12 and 20 years in prison for harming John and Wanda Branciforte of New Port Richey. But to avoid appeals, prosecutors offered Branstetter the lesser punishment. He also was sentenced to eight years' probation and substance abuse treatment and will permanently lose his driver's license. "I'm more sorry than you will ever know," Branstetter told Wanda Branciforte through tears.
