TAMPA - A badly burned woman found next to a brush fire Friday night has died.
Mary Schultz, 49, left a suicide note at the scene, a wooded area near Ehrlich Road and Gunn Highway in Citrus Park, according to Debbie Carter, a spokeswoman for the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. Carter said it appears Schultz set fire to the bushes. No fire-starting devices were found, she said.
Hillsborough County firefighters responded to the small brush fire just before 9 p.m. Friday. They found Schultz, who lived at 14922 Rocky Ledge Drive, lying next to the fire with burns over 80 percent of her body.
Schultz was flown to Tampa General Hospital, where she died.
