Gary Hardie has been elected to the board of directors of the Tampa Connection. Hardie is a senior tax manager at Kirkland, Russ, Murphy & Tapp PA, St. Petersburg.

Suzanne M. Palitti has been named vice president and partner at Overbeck & Associates CPA PA, Trinity. Palitti was a senior tax accountant at Arthur Andersen LLP in Phoenix.

ARCHITECTURE

Paul G. Dengler has been named a senior project manager at Bessolo Design Group Inc., St. Petersburg. Dengler was a senior project manager at Arconics Architecture, New York.

BANKING

Amanda Gilroy has been named vice president and commercial lender at Signature Bank, St. Petersburg. Gilroy was a business banker at AmSouth Bank, Seminole.

Synovus Bank of Tampa Bay announces these promotions: Shawna Butler, vice president/credit analyst in the credit administration division; and Cathy O'Reilly, vice president/IT communications. Butler was credit analyst; and O'Reilly was assistant vice president/special projects coordinator.

Whitney National Bank, Palm Harbor, announces these appointments: David P. Paetzold, area president; Gerald Wales, senior vice president, senior commercial lending manager; and Eric Treichel, vice president, commercial lender. Paetzold was senior commercial lending manager; Wales was senior vice president, corporate lending group, at Mercantile Bank, Clearwater; and Treichel was vice president, commercial real estate lender, at BB&T, Clearwater.

CONSTRUCTION

Chris Hurd has been named land acquisition manager at Taylor Woodrow's Tower Division, St. Petersburg. Hurd was land sales manager at the St. Joe Co. in Panama City Beach.

The Tampa Division of U.S. Home announces these appointments : Emilia Gharzeddine, customer care representative; Allison Stark, marketing manager; an d Susan Wendling, human resource administrator. Gharzeddine was an assistant manager with CompUSA, Brandon; Stark was marketing coordinator for William Ryan Homes, Tampa; and Wendling was a paralegal at Paradyne Corp., Largo.

ENGINEERING

Kimberlee B. DeBosier has been named 2005 Engineer of the Year by the Florida Engineering Society. DeBosier is the first woman recipient in the statewide award's 45-year history. Also, DeBosier received the 2005 Community Service Award from the Florida Institute of Civil Engineers for her continued involvement in the Tampa Bay community. DeBosier is president of Bayside Engineering, Tampa.

Michael S. Dixon has been promoted to vice president of the transportation/infrastructure program at Reynolds, Smith and Hills Inc., Tampa. Dixon was a project engineer.

Joseph A. Sawmiller Jr. has been named a senior project manager in the national aviation services division at PBS&J, Tampa. Sawmiller was senior project manager and Florida aviation market leader at CDM, Tampa.

GOVERNMENT

Jeffrey Cain has been named director of strategic planning and training for the Hillsborough County Tax Collector's Office. Cain was vice president of corporate training at Raymond James Financial, St. Petersburg.

HOSPITALITY

Jacky Gill has been promoted to general manager of the new Hampton Inn & Suites, East Tampa, for BayStar Hotel Group LLC, Tampa. Gill was assistant general manager at BayStar's Holiday Inn Express Hotel and Suites, Orlando International Airport.

INSURANCE

Isabelle Theisen has been named chief security officer at First Advantage Corp., St. Petersburg. Theisen was vice president of information security for Warner Bros., Burbank, Calif.
