TAMPA - A Ruskin man charged with sexually battering a 14-year-old girl will remain in jail after Hillsborough Chief Judge Manuel Menendez on Monday ordered he be held without bail.

Daniel Rivera, 33, was arrested Sunday afternoon and charged with one count of sexual battery on a custodial or family member.

According to an arrest affidavit, Rivera entered the girl's bedroom while she was sleeping, put his hand over her mouth and assaulted her. Rivera's relationship to the girl is being withheld to protect her identity.

This is Rivera's first arrest in Florida, state records show.
