Redington Beach group to meet

REDINGTON BEACH - Residents are invited to attend the Redington Beach Property Owners Association potluck dinner at 6 p.m. Jan. 26 in the Assembly Room at Redington Beach Town Hall, 105 164th St. After the dinner, the group will hold its annual meeting and elect 2006 officers and directors. Members in good standing (2006 membership dues paid) are eligible for nomination and election. During the business portion of the meeting, the group will review upcoming association-sponsored events, including quarterly potluck dinners and an annual scholarship award contest for high school seniors. Belleair Beach

Gulfport
Florida Art Village Courtyard Fresh Market is held 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays. Market items include fresh produce, natural products, flowers, plants, baked goods and seafood. Live entertainment is featured each week. Vendors and entertainers are needed.

Indian Rocks Beach
Programs offered by the North Beaches YMCA include Pilates and yoga classes in the mornings and evenings at Calvary Episcopal Church and Church of the Isles in Indian Rocks Beach, and at Indian Shores Town Hall; Mom & Tot Yoga taught by Marzana Bard on Friday mornings; as well as access to both Bardmoor and Clearwater fitness facilities.
The YMCA also offers art classes in February in Indian Shores, including Introduction to Plein Aire, Oil and Acrylic painting taught by Indian Rocks Beach Cottage artist Violetta, who also teaches at Ringling School of Art and the Gulf Coast Art Museum.

Indian Shores

Redington Shores
Residents here are invited to join in a public discussion of the town's comprehensive plan at 7 p.m. today in the Town Hall community room, 17425 Gulf Blvd.
The purpose of the Evaluation and Appraisal/Comprehensive Plan meeting is to gather public input for the upcoming update of the town's comprehensive plan.

St. Pete Beach
A few more seats are left for this year's "Sunday to Die For!" from 1 to 3 p.m. Jan. 29 in the Don CeSar Beach Resort's Del Prado Room, 3400 Gulf Blvd. Tickets are $35 per person and must be purchased in advance. Now in its third year, the popular Friends of the St. Pete Beach Library fundraiser features eight new mystery authors (Mary Kay Andrews, Tom Corcoran, Mary Anna Evans, Stuart Kaminsky, Nick Lucas, Bob Morris, P.J. Treasure Island
The Treasure Island Recreation Department is offering a cardio tennis program at the Treasure Bay Golf and Tennis facility, 10315 Paradise Blvd. Cardio tennis is a group activity featuring drills to give players of all abilities an ultimate, high-energy workout. The one-hour class includes a warmup, cardio workout and cool-down phases resulting in "Heart Pumping Fitness." Classes are 9 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, 7 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, and 8 a.m. Saturdays. The cost is $8 per class, and loaner rackets are available.

Beach parking permits for 2006 are available for purchase. Proof of residency is required.
The permits cost $5 and are valid through Dec. 31. They can be used at all city of Treasure Island metered parking lots except the Snowy Egret lot on the east side of W Gulf Boulevard at 80th Avenue, across from the Beach Pavilion.
The permits are not valid at the city of St. Petersburg's lot at Gulf Boulevard and 112th Avenue. The 2005 permits are valid through Feb. 28, 2006. For more information, call 547-4575.

The seventh annual Rotary Tennis and Golf Challenge, jointly sponsored by the Gulf Beaches Rotary Club and the city of Treasure Island, will be held Jan. 28 at Treasure Bay Golf and Tennis, 10315 Paradise Blvd. The Tennis Challenge, a men's and women's doubles round robin, will accommodate 48 tennis players of all playing levels and abilities.
The golf challenge, limited to 36 men and women, will be a shotgun start under the Callaway scoring system. The event will benefit Treasure Island Recreation Department children's programs, Treasure Bay tennis and golf programs for juniors, and the Gulf Beaches Rotary Foundation. Playing times will be 9 a.m. to noon (open tee times beginning at 10:30 a.m. for additional players).
The cost is $25 per player, including play, goodie bag, prizes and raffle. A silent auction is open to the public and will include tennis rackets, hotel and restaurant packages, and much more. Food and beverage concessions will be available throughout the event.
A silent auction preview, Draw Party and buffet will be held at Treasure Bay from 6 to 8 p.m. Jan. 27. The buffet is $15 per person.
