District announces principal appointments

By LETITIA STEIN

There's a mixed bag of news in the latest round of principal appointments in east Hillsborough. New principals have been named to several schools, leaving a leadership void at others.

Brandon High is losing principal Denny Oest to Lennard High, which opens in Ruskin in the fall. Oest spent almost three years as Brandon principal.

Brandon High also says goodbye to Dennis Mayo, assistant principal for administration. He's taking the top job at Turkey Creek Middle School.

Spoto High will open in east Brandon this fall under the leadership of Clyde Trathowen. He has served as East Bay High's principal for almost two years.

Doby Elementary, a new school in the Covington Park subdivision off Big Bend Road, will open with Catherine Ferguson as principal. She has been principal at McDonald Elementary for six years.

At Jennings Middle School, JoAnn Johnson is moving up from assistant principal to principal.
