FRESH MARKET: The Brandon Fresh Market features more than 30 local vendors every Saturday from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at S Parsons Avenue and Mason Street. In addition to a wide variety of organic foods, crafts and antiques, the market also features live music and an international lunch. Call 748-0441.
ON YOUR MARK...: The ninth annual FishHawk Ranch Road Race is set for Saturday at 8:15 a.m. The 5k and 10k races begin at Park Square, 16144 Churchview Drive, Lithia, and wind through the community. The kids' race begins at 9:30 a.m. Entry fees are $25 the day of the race, $12 for the kids' race. There will be an awards ceremony followed by a post-race party complete with music, food and raffle prizes. Proceeds from the race will benefit local schools as well as the University of Tampa's track scholarship fund. Call 685-7500.
SINGLES DANCE: Brandon Ladies of the Elks host a dance for singles older than 35 Saturday from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the Brandon Elks Lodge, 800 Centennial Drive. The cost for the dance is $8. All proceeds go to the Elks Local Charity Fund. Call 654-2968.
INVESTMENT ADVICE: Edward Jones representative Joe Spooner's four-week investment workshop continues Tuesday at 6 p.m. The class focuses on the many different types of investments available for working or retired investors. COMPUTER HELP: The Greater Tampa Bay PC User Group meets Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Brandon High School, 1101 Victoria St., Room 129. This week's meeting focuses on removing unwanted software. Call 626-7869.
PUPPET SHOW: Celebrate African culture with the puppet show All Stories are Anansi's, 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Bloomingdale Regional Library, 1906 Bloomingdale Ave., Valrico. Anansi, the oldest of all spider men, uses his tricks to become the owner of all the stories in the world. Call 272-5241.
SENIOR FUN FEST: Senior Connection presents Senior Fun Fest! from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at the Florida State Fairgrounds. The event features more than 200 exhibitors with information on senior services, health and wellness, travel, and attractions. There will be counseling on Medicare Part D, health screenings and live entertainment on both days. At 3 p.m. each afternoon, there will be a drawing to win two round-trip plane tickets. LOOK WHO'S READING NOW: The Tampa-Hillsborough County public library system is hosting a prereading program for babies and their caregivers. A librarian from the library's Born To Read program will share ideas, tips and techniques to encourage a love of reading at a young age. Bring your newborn to 2-year-old for stories, songs and games Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Brandon Family Support and Resource Center, 1277 Kingsway Road. Call 272-5241.
TWEENS ONLY! The 78th Street Community Library's computer lab is just for kids ages 10 to 13 Thursday at 4 p.m. Tweens are invited to spend time in the lab perfecting their computer skills and sharing Web sites with their friends. The library is at 7625 Palm River Road. Call 272-5241.
VOLUNTEERS WANTED: Cracker Country, a rural living history museum located at the fairgrounds, seeks enthusiastic seniors to volunteer as interpreters, gardeners and artifact conservators. Experience in these areas is helpful, but not necessary. Call 627-4225.
SCHOLARSHIP: Patricia B. Odiorne was a dedicated servant of the Brandon community. She served on numerous boards and committees and had a love of the arts. A scholarship of $1,000 in her name will be awarded to a graduating Brandon high school senior. The student must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average and should be actively involved in artistic or community service. The deadline to apply is Feb. 9. Interested students should speak to their guidance counselor.
