Tomlin Middle seeking clothes for students

PLANT CITY - Tomlin Middle School needs help filling its new clothes closet.

The closet was created after school employees noticed that some children weren't coming to school because they lacked appropriate clothing.

"Right now cold is a concern," said Natasha Subko, a math teacher and peer counselor who is organizing the closet. "We have a lot of kids that come and don't have anything warm. So they'll shiver for two or three days."

Tomlin is seeking donations of T-shirts, sweat shirts (especially hooded ones) and tennis shoes. New socks and gift certificates to stores such as Payless ShoeSource and other discount chains also are welcome.

Items can be used but must be clean and without holes. Sizes should be appropriate for children of middle school age, such as large children's sizes or small adult sizes.

To donate, contact Subko at 757-9400, ext. 229. The school will not accept hats or garments with inappropriate logos.
