CITRUS PARK - A man died in a mid-morning fire today while trying to round up and rescue his dogs.
His identity was not released.
Two of three dogs also perished.
The house, a one-story stone-faced ranch-style home on Kids Lane, was a total loss, Fire Rescue spokesperson Ray Yeakley.
Another man who lives in the house told firefighters the two went to check on noises coming from another room and found the living room on fire.
It was unclear whether the home had working smoke detectors, and the cause of the fire was still under investigation, Yeakley said.
When firefighters arrived, flames were pouring out of the windows and doors, Yeakley said.
The deceased man, who was found in the bathroom, is believed to be the homeowner, said Yeakley.
