It's time to register new crop of kindergarteners

Come to a Family Education and Information Center to get the "choice" ball rolling.

Parents of children who will begin kindergarten in Pinellas public schools this fall must register now to be eligible to enter the choice application process.

Once registered, parents will receive their child's student identification number, which they will use when applying for schools during the Feb. 1-17 and March 21-April 9 application periods.

To register, parents must come to a Family Education and Information Center with an original or certified copy of the child's state-issued birth certificate; and proof of residency such as a recent utility bill for power, water, cable, sewer, noncellular phone or a lease agreement bearing the name and address of the parent or guardian.

The St. Petersburg Family Education and Information Center is at 3420 Eighth Ave. S. Hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The Clearwater center is at 1101 Marshall St. Hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Parents also may register from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 4 at the magnet-choice information fair at Pinellas Park High School, 6305 118th Ave. N, Largo.
