Tennis, golf event is Saturday

TREASURE ISLAND - The seventh annual Rotary Tennis and Golf Challenge, sponsored by the Gulf Beaches Rotary Club and the city of Treasure Island, will be Saturday at Treasure Bay Golf and Tennis, 10315 Paradise Blvd. The Tennis Challenge, a men's and women's doubles round robin, will accommodate 48 tennis players.

The golf challenge is limited to 36 men and women and will include a shotgun start under the Callaway Scoring System.

The event will benefit the Treasure Island Recreation Department children's programs, the Treasure Bay tennis and golf programs for juniors, and the Gulf Beaches Rotary Foundation.

Playing times will be from 9 a.m. to noon (open tee times beginning at 10:30 a.m. for additional players). The cost is $25 per player, including play, goodie bag, prizes and raffle. A silent auction is open to the public and will include tennis rackets, hotel and restaurant packages and much more. Food and beverage concessions will be available throughout the event. A silent auction preview, draw party and buffet will be held at Treasure Bay from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. The cost of the buffet is $15 per person.

The Treasure Island Voters Watch will meet beginning at 6 tonight for a social, dinner and meeting. From 7 to 8:15 p.m., participants can hear and meet with City Commission and mayoral candidates. Topics for discussion will include the Beach Trail and downtown redevelopment.

The Sunset Beach Civic Association will meet for an Italian Nite on Feb. 13 at the Treasure Island Community Center. The evening will begin with a social at 6:30 p.m.

An Italian-style dinner begins at 7 p.m. The menu includes garlic bread and salad, ziti and meatballs with marinara sauce, and ice cream with cookie. There will be live music and door prizes.

Tickets are $6 for adults and $3 for children.

Belleair Beach

Social bridge is held at 1 p.m. on Thursdays until April at City Hall, 444 Causeway Blvd. Bring a partner or one will be provided. For more information, call Nora Harvey at 733-7138.

Gulfport

Florida Art Village Courtyard Fresh Market is held Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Market items include fresh produce, natural products, flowers, live plants, baked goods and seafood. Indian Rocks Beach

Programs offered by the North Beaches YMCA include Pilates and yoga classes in the mornings and evenings at Calvary Episcopal Church and Church of the Isles in Indian Rocks Beach, and at Indian Shores Town Hall; Mom & Tot Yoga taught by Marzana Bard on Friday mornings; as well as access to both Bardmoor and Clearwater fitness facilities.

The YMCA also offers art classes in February in Indian Shores including Introduction to Plein Aire, Oil and Acrylic painting taught by Indian Rocks Beach cottage artist, Violetta, who also teaches at Ringling School of Art and the Gulf Coast Art Museum.

Indian Shores

Women's Club Bingo will be held every Monday night through March at the Indian Shores Town Hall auditorium, 19305 Gulf Blvd.

Madeira Beach

The American Credit-Debit Collectors Club will host its first meeting from 1 to 4 p.m. Feb. 4 at the Gulf Beaches Library, 200 Municipal Drive. The new group caters to collectors of gift, casino slot, telephone, credit, hotel, medical, department store, gasoline and other forms of plastic cards.

The informal meeting will offer members an opportunity to meet and trade. Membership is free. For more information, call Lin Overholt at 393-5397.

Redington Beach

Town residents are invited to attend the Redington Beach Property Owners Association potluck dinner Thursday beginning at 6 p.m. in the Assembly Room at Redington Beach Town Hall, 105 164th St. After dinner, the group will hold its annual meeting and elect 2006 officers and directors.

Any member in good standing (2006 membership dues paid) is eligible for nomination and election. During the business portion of the meeting, the group will review upcoming association-sponsored events, including quarterly potluck dinners and an annual scholarship award contest for high school seniors. St. Pete Beach

"Sunday to Die For!" will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday in the Don CeSar Beach Resort's Del Prado Room, 3400 Gulf Blvd.

In its third year, the Friends of the St. Pete Beach Library fundraiser features eight new mystery authors (Mary Kay Andrews, Tom Corcoran, Mary Anna Evans, Stuart Kaminsky, Nick Lucas, Bob Morris, P.J. Parrish and James Sheehan) and a traditional high tea.

The second annual Touch A Truck will be held in the St. Pete Beach gymnasium parking lot, 7701 Boca Ciega Drive, from 10 a.m. until noon on Feb. 4.

Kids of all ages can climb into the driver's seat of their favorite utility, police or fire vehicles. The event is free, and snacks will be available for purchase.
