Sale switching style from Caribbean to Hollywood

By ALEXANDRA ZAYAS
Published January 27, 2006

SOHO - St. Bart's Island House in SoHo has been sold to an Ocala nightclub owner, who plans to give the once casual Caribbean spot an old Hollywood feel.

Philip Glassman bought the bar and restaurant from Gordon Davis, who still owns Ceviche Tapas Bar & Restaurant in SoHo. A second location opened in St. Petersburg in October. Glassman plans to open Club Prive, a private members-only club, on part of the property and leave the existing restaurant and bar open to the public. While Glassman declined to discuss details of his plan this week, he confirmed that more than 100 people have already expressed interest in the club, with a planned membership cost of $5,000.
