Man gets prison in child sex case

By Times Staff Writer
Published January 27, 2006

BROOKSVILLE - Richard Allen Lietz pleaded guilty Thursday to lewd and lascivious battery on a child between the ages of 12 and 16.

Lietz, 25, of 421 Briarwood Lane, Spring Hill, was sentenced to almost six years in prison and another five years of probation and will be classified as a sex offender. He could have gotten up to 20 years in prison, or at least 10 to 15, but the victim "had some compassion for him," Assistant State Attorney Rob Lewis said.

The victim got pregnant and now has a baby by Lietz, but the sex was consensual, Lewis said. "It was her position to not have the book thrown at him."
