But she didn't miss a day of school

Skewering her foot doesn't slow down the superintendent.
Superintendent Sandra "Sam" Himmel , a veteran of many appearances in Citrus Slices, decided to find a new way to get into the column last weekend.
While helping her husband in the kitchen, she accidentally skewered her foot by dropping a butcher knife on it, slicing an artery. The injury required stitches, and Himmel had to stay off her feet for a while.
That meant two days in a wheelchair and a very short time on crutches. After one trip across the expanse of the District Services Center in Inverness, she pitched the crutches and opted for comfy tennis shoes, instead.
To those who accuse the superintendent of being too high energy anyway, the comfy shoes might not be a bad idea for the long haul.
WHO'S THE COMPANY PRESIDENT? CHARRO? To our list of favorite corporate names, we must add this one to the top: Withlacoochee Coochee-Coo, LLC.
This limited liability corporation based in Clearwater formed this year and bought land in east Citrus.
The company, and the name, are the brainchild of Clearwater attorney Alan S. Gassman. He said he bought the land for use as a retreat by his law office staff.
"We want it to be a fun little property, so we came up with a fun little name," Gassman explained.
Gassman is a veteran of creative names. Other companies under his control: Hey Hey Santa Fe and Way Down Upon the Suwannee River Far Far Away .
No, we are not making this up.
