Learn secrets of bay area gardening

LARGO - Have you been confused by the sandy soil, growing conditions and the proper time to plant flowers, vegetables and herbs? Learn the secrets to successful gardening in the Tampa Bay area at 6:30 p.m. today at the auditorium of Pinellas County Extension, 12520 Ulmerton Road. This six-session gardening course meets on consecutive Tuesdays through March 14. The $60 fee includes a large notebook packed with educational reference materials and a bag of other gardening goodies. Seating is limited. Call 582-2673 to register.

SPCA to start dog obedience class

LARGO - The SPCA of Pinellas County, 9099 130th Ave. N, offers a six-week, one-hour class in the basics of dog obedience starting at 6 p.m. Wednesday and continuing through March 8. The class helps you to better understand your canine companion, and vice versa, and features positive reinforcement training methods. Dogs must be current on vaccinations.
