Collegiate high gives last call

Students interested in attending St. Petersburg Collegiate High School have two final opportunities to pick up an application and learn more about the program.
School personnel will be available from 7 to 8:30 tonight in the arts auditorium on the Clearwater campus of St. Petersburg College, 2465 Drew St., and on Feb. 15 in the music center of the Gibbs campus, 6605 Fifth Ave. N.
Rather than applying for a seat for the 2006-07 school year during the Pinellas school district's choice application period, current ninth-, 10th- and 11th-graders must attend one of the meetings and submit an application before the March 1 deadline.
Students considering St. Petersburg Collegiate High, which allows highly motivated students to earn a standard diploma and an associate's degree simultaneously, must be residents of Pinellas County. Tenth-graders entering the precollegiate program should have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher and passing scores on the eighth-grade Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test.
Students entering as 11th-graders must have a minimum 3.0 unweighted high school grade point average.
Those selected for the program will be notified by March 15, before the district's choice attendance area application period begins on March 21.
Families will receive more information about the application and acceptance process at the meetings. See www.spcollege.edu/spchs for details.
