WinterFest to delight crowds in second year

INDIAN ROCKS BEACH - The second annual WinterFest on the Rocks will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 18 at Calvary Episcopal Church, 1615 First St. (behind Guppy's Restaurant).
The community event, co-sponsored by Calvary Episcopal Church and the North Beaches Branch YMCA, will feature food and beer, a play area for kids, live entertainment, games, a silent auction and raffles including large cash prizes. Proceeds will benefit the YMCA and the local church outreach ministries.
The entire block will be closed for the day with craft booths lining either side of the street. More than 40 arts and crafts vendors are expected to display their wares. Vendor fees are $35 for a 10-by-10 space or two spaces for $65.
The Patriotic Children's Parade, beginning at 10 a.m., will feature the Calvary Kids, St. Petersburg Community Band, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10094 and the Pinellas Suncoast Fire and Rescue apparatus. Kids can dress up a bicycle, wagon or themselves and join in the parade.
The Starstruck Dance Studio will perform at 1 p.m. King Trump Entertainment will provide music beginning at noon. For more information, call Tyna Westman at 517-3972.
Indian Rocks Beach
Programs offered by the North Beaches YMCA include: Pilates and yoga classes in the mornings and evenings at Calvary Episcopal Church and Church of the Isles in Indian Rocks Beach and at Indian Shores Town Hall; Mom & Tot Yoga taught by Marzana Bard on Friday mornings; as well as access to both Bardmoor and Clearwater fitness facilities.
The YMCA also offers art classes in February in Indian Shores including Introduction to Plein Aire, Oil and Acrylic painting taught by Indian Rocks Beach Cottage artist Violetta, who also teaches at Ringling School of Art and the Gulf Coast Art Museum.

Applications are available for the 29th annual Beauty and the Beach Arts and Crafts Show to be from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. April 1 in Kolb Park. The event is co-sponsored by the Beach Art Center, the city of Indian Rocks Beach and the Pinellas County Arts Council.
Activities will include a volleyball tournament on the beach, a Miss Beauty & the Beach contest, bake sale, fine arts and crafts, children's activities, library book sale and a pancake breakfast served in the Beach Art Center. Sporties for Shorties, a YMCA program teaching noncompetitive, organized sports - soccer, flag football and fun relay games - for children ages 2 to 4, will be at 4 to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Feb. 14 at the COTI Community School. For information, call 595-5610.
Indian Shores
Women's Club Bingo will be held every Monday night through March at the Indian Shores Town Hall auditorium, 19305 Gulf Blvd. Early Birds starts at 7 p.m. and regular bingo starts at 7:30. No one younger than 18 is allowed in the hall. For information, call Jane at 501-0614.
Belleair Beach

Gulfport
Florida Art Village Courtyard Fresh Market is from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays. Market items include fresh produce, natural products, flowers, live plants, baked goods and seafood. Live entertainment is featured each week.

Madeira Beach
The American Credit-Debit Collectors club will host its first meeting from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Gulf Beaches Library, 200 Municipal Drive.
The new group caters to collectors of gift, casino slot, telephone, credit, hotel, medical, department store, gasoline and other forms of plastic cards. The informal meeting will offer members an opportunity to meet and trade. Membership is free. For information, call Lin Overholt at 393-5397.
St. Pete Beach
The second annual Touch A Truck will be in the St. Pete Beach gymnasium parking lot, 7701 Boca Ciega Drive, from 10 a.m. until noon Saturday. Kids of all ages can climb into the driver's seat of their favorite utility, police or fire vehicles.

Tierra Verde
A Manitoulin Island Reunion will be at 11 a.m. Feb. 9 at the Fort De Soto North Beach Shelter 7. Guests should bring a picnic lunch, games and musical instruments. Fort De Soto is at 3500 Pinellas Bayway S. For information, call Russ Conley at 501-0340.
Treasure Island
The Sunset Beach Civic Association will meet for an Italian Nite, Feb. 13 at the Treasure Island Community Center.
The evening will begin with a social at 6:30 p.m. with an Italian-style dinner beginning at 7.
The menu includes garlic bread and salad, ziti and meatballs with marinara sauce, and ice cream with cookies. There will be live music and door prizes.

The Treasure Island Action Club will meet at 1:30 p.m. Feb. 8 at the Community Center. The Grandmother Rockettes will perform. The club is open to all seniors older than 55 and who are residents of Treasure Island for at least four months of the year.
