Head over to Silver Springs nature park near Ocala this weekend to catch Herman's Hermits today or Leann Rimes on Sunday.
Known for their pop music of the 1960s, Herman's Hermits takes credit for the bubbly sing-along I'm Into Something Good, which is still played on oldies radio stations. Lead singer Peter Noone is scheduled to appear with the band.
Other Hermits hits include the folksy Mrs. Brown, You've Got A Lovely Daughter along with There's a Kind of Hush and the historical novelty I'm Henry the VIII, I Am. Music begins at noon with opening act Jerico.
Rimes hit the county charts while she was quite young: 13. Her first hit, Blue, showed off her incredible singing range, interspersed with some yodeling. It also led to her two Grammy wins for Best New Artist and Best Country Female Vocalist, in 1996. Only 22 now, she's a veteran of the country music circuit. She's also married and has a new CD, This Woman.
Music starts at noon with opening act Norman Lee Schaeffer. Concerts are included as part of regular admission: $32.99 for adults; $23.99 for children ages 3 to 10; and children age 2 and younger admitted free. Admission for seniors (55 and older) is $29.99.
The park is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Bring in any Coke product for an $8 discount.
Silver Springs is east of Ocala on State Road 40 Silver Springs Boulevard, in Marion County. Call (352) 236-2121 or visit www.silversprings.com
