By Times Staff Writer
Published February 4, 2006

A Largo man died early Friday in a chain-reaction crash on Interstate 95 in South Carolina that also killed his uncle and a Georgia truck driver.

The crash took place about 1:25 a.m. Friday as traffic was stopped for another incident on I-95 in Jasper County, S.C., according to the Georgia Highway Patrol. Brett Cole Reitzel, 32, of Largo died when an 18-wheeler driven by 52-year-old Tommy Lenoir of Valdosta, Ga., crashed into a van driven by Reitzel's uncle, Delbert Eugene Reitzel Jr. of South Daytona, authorities said. Another passenger in the van and the drivers of two other 18-wheelers were injured in the crash, which involved six vehicles. The people in the van were traveling together from North Carolina, where they had attended a funeral, Georgia authorities said.
