Daddy/Daughter Date Night features dinner and dancing

SEMINOLE - The annual Daddy/Daughter Date Night will be from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday at the Seminole Recreation Center.

The Cinderella's Ball will feature dinner and dancing at Prince Charming's Castle (the Recreation Center Auditorium), a DJ and photography. Substitute daddies are welcome.

Tickets are $30 per couple and $15 for an additional daughter. Either the daddy or daughter must have a recreation card. For information, call 391-8345.

The Seminole recreation department is sponsoring a trip to the "Bodies" exhibit at the Museum of Science and Industry in Tampa on Thursday. The trip costs $39 per person (recreation card required).

Participants will leave at 9 a.m. and return by 3 p.m. The trip includes lunch at a local restaurant and a possible stop at International Plaza. For information, call Dan at 391-8345.

The Chuck Wagon Gang will perform at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the Seminole High School Auditorium as a fundraiser for the Seminole Chamber of Commerce. Tickets are $10 and will be available at the chamber office, 8400 113th St. N, or at the door on concert night. For information, call 392-3245.

The Seminole Public Library will hold a Musicale at 3 p.m. Sunday featuring accordionist Andrei Cheine. Cheine is a master of all types of European music on the accordion, with a diverse repertoire from Russia, Italy, Germany and more. The library is at 9200 113th St. N. Seminole Recreation Center is sponsoring a trip to the "Our Sinatra" show at Ruth Eckerd Hall on Feb. 22. The show features the songs and music made famous by singer Frank Sinatra and will feature three Broadway stars, an 11-piece band and more than 60 Sinatra songs. Tickets are $34, and a recreation card is required.

Participants will leave the recreation center at 11 a.m. and stop at a local restaurant for lunch before arriving for the show. For information, call Dan at 391-8345.

The Seminole Recreation Center will host an "All the President's Men" luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 21. The patriotism-themed luncheon, catered by Freedom Square, is $7. Reservations must be made at least three days before the luncheon. For information, call Dan at 391-8345.

Classes on the basics of blacksmithing are from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m Saturday and on Feb. 18 at the Pinellas County Historical Society, 11909 125th St. N.

Ken Straight, Heritage Village's volunteer blacksmith, will lead the class and show students beginning blacksmithing techniques.

Topics include blacksmithing safety, lighting and maintaining an efficient coal fire, working the bellows, heating and shaping the metal, and designing an ornamental piece.
