City Council member will run for re-election in April

By Times Staff Writer
Published February 9, 2006

NEW PORT RICHEY - City Council member Matthew McCaffery announced Wednesday that he will seek a second two-year term.

McCaffery said he would like to press forward with annexations to expand New Port Richey's tax base and explore starting a city ambulance service instead of relying on Pasco County paramedics. "It would be more cost-effective and more time-effective for the citizens if we had in-house service," he said. McCaffery, 24, served in the Marines during Operation Iraqi Freedom. He is pursuing a bachelor's degree in political science at the University of South Florida. The election is April 11.
