Opera and Broadway music, along with upscale touches such as a chocolate fountain, will highlight this year's Bravissimo concert at the Art Center Theatre.

Bravissimo, a performance of selected classical and contemporary music, will be at 8 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday at the Art Center Theatre, 2644 N Annapolis Ave., Citrus Hills.

Performers include pianist Enrico Lancia along with soprano Silvia Martinelli, tenor Mark Still, baritone Grant Clarke and sopranos Stephanie Reiss and Anna Sandoval.

Sandoval, who lived in Citrus County for many years before moving to Tampa, started Bravissimo five years ago and said she is proud to be able to continue the concert series. She is a classically trained opera singer with impressive range. To keep her voice in shape, she rehearses and takes master classes during the year.

Bravissimo will be performed five times. In addition to the two Crystal River concerts, there will be performances in St. Petersburg and one in Clearwater.

"We want to introduce it to bigger venues," Sandoval said.

A new feature will be added to the concerts.

"This year for the enjoyment of the crowd, small commentaries prior to the numbers will be added in order for everybody to relate to the situation," Sandoval said.

The classical music will be from Tosca, La Boheme and M. Butterfly; along with arias from Romeo & Juliet; Die Fledermaus; Die Zauberflote; and L'elisir d'amore.

For musical theater lovers, Broadway selections include songs from The Phanthom of the Opera, Les Miserable and Man of La Mancha.

Tickets for the Saturday performance cost $50 and include a champagne reception with silent auction of artwork beginning at 6 p.m., plus portrait photography by Dr. Perry Ekstrand. Music begins at 8 p.m.

The Sunday matinee tickets cost $25. Matinee begins at 2 p.m. with a silent auction and reception that will include a chocolate fountain and appetizers. Performance begins at 3 p.m. Evening attire is requested. Call Jackie de Torres at 860-1976 for more information.
