SALON TAKES LAST OF TOOL STORE: A salon has filled the remaining space of Davis Island Hardware, which closed in December 2004.

Studio Cabello hair salon opened Jan. 24 at 245 E Davis Blvd. It's an Aveda Concept salon, said co-owner Elaine Taylor, meaning that it exclusively uses Aveda hair, skin and makeup products. That also means its stylists have graduated from Aveda training programs.

Since Aveda ranks its trainees as junior, advanced or master "designers," Studio Cabello customers will have three price levels to choose from when making an appointment.

Taylor herself is a master and is currently the only hairstylist on staff. She expects to add five stylists soon.

The salon serves men, women and children. Hair coloring, highlighting, corrective color and reconditioning treatments are on the service menu, along with cuts. Makeup lessons will be offered soon, Taylor said.
