WHERE: Santa Fe Community College, 3000 NW 83rd St., Gainesville.
DIRECTIONS: From I-75 North, take Exit 390 and turn right at the end of the ramp. Drive east on Northwest 39th Avenue until you reach the intersection at Northwest 83rd Street. Turn right. COST: $6.
THE SCOOP: Top six medal.
ABOUT CITRUS: Senior Jazmin Cepeda, at 129 pounds, is the lone qualifier. She was third at the Section 4 meet with a 135-pound bench and 115-pound clean and jerk. ABOUT CRYSTAL RIVER: All four lifters, Kari Stanford (199), Quincy Wilson (183), Racheal Reed (139) and Jackie Seffern (129), also qualified last season. Coach Charles Brooks said he knows the Pirates probably won't win because defending champion Port Orange Spruce Creek is a near lock but his lifters have a chance to place. "I feel pretty good about this," Brooks said. "We're ready to go." ABOUT LECANTO: Senior Jen Corriveau (110) and sophomore Victoria Mele (154) qualified. Corriveau, a 4-foot-10 cheerleader, gymnast and dancer, wanted to get stronger when she joined last year. Her total (bench 145 and clean 130) has increased by 55 this season. She finished 13th at state last year. "She is a true competitor," coach Bob LeCours said. Mele started lifting last year to get ready for volleyball. "She got the fever for it," LeCours said, joking. Even though Mele didn't qualify last year, "This year she came back and is on a mission," LeCours said. She has increased her total to 285, up 70 from last year.
