The Pinellas County Council of PTAs has announced the winners of the county-level Reflections art contest. The theme of this year's Reflections art contest, sponsored by the National PTA, was "I Wonder Why ..." The program, begun in Colorado in 1969, is open to students in preschool through Grade 12 and offers students the chance to express themselves through literature, music, photography and the visual arts. Winners, whose entries have been submitted to the state level of competition, were:
Literature:
Primary (prekindergarten to Grade 3) - Jordan Carlson, Seminole Elementary; Jeana Fraser, McMullen-Booth Elementary; Evan Sweat, Madeira Beach Elementary.
Intermediate (grades 3-5) - Elena Barbieri, Lakeview Fundamental Elementary; Haley Burnaman, Garrison-Jones Elementary; Jordan Wells, Lake St. George Elementary.

The Arts Center has released the winners of the Word and Image Elementary School exhibition, for schools begining with the letters N-Z. The theme this year was "Class Menagerie," which incorporated a written narrative of pets in the lives of children. The juried exhibit is sponsored by the Hough Family Foundation. Winning entries will be on display at the Arts Center, 719 Central Ave., St. Petersburg, in the Risser Gallery, through March 26. Winners were:
