Townhome hearing moved to March 14

By Times Staff
Published February 17, 2006

WESTCHASE - The hearing date for a proposed townhome complex has been moved to March 14.

Burcaw Development wants to rezone 112 acres at Lake Sunset Drive and Sheldon Road to build almost 500 townhomes. A Hillsborough County zoning hearing master was originally scheduled to hear the request last Monday night.

The development would open onto Sheldon and Lake Sunset, a dead-end road. Members of the Upper Tampa Bay Alliance, the Westchase Community Association and parents of Bryant Elementary School students have opposed the plan, saying it would create traffic and add more students to already-overcrowded schools.

The hearing will be at 6 p.m. on the second floor of the County Center, 601 E Kennedy Blvd. Interested? Attend the hearing to enter your comments on the record.
