Deadline looming to get kids into magnet schools

Pinellas parents have until the stroke of midnight to try to enroll their children in the magnet, fundamental or high school career academies next year.

Pinellas parents who want their children to attend a magnet, fundamental or high school career academy next year have until midnight to call the district's automated phone system at (727) 501-0871.

They will need their child's 10-digit ID number and the six-digit "program ID" number for each school to which they want to apply. The ID numbers are available in the district's Choice Information Guide, at any school, public library, the Family Education and Information Centers, or online at www.pinellaschoice.org

Eligibility criteria such as report cards and test scores, required for some magnet programs, must be delivered to the schools by the end of the school day Monday. Check with the schools for details.

Parents who have applied for a magnet, fundamental or high school career academy program must call (727) 501-0871 between March 10-19 to find out whether their child was invited into a program.
