Arts Center announces winners in exhibition

The Arts Center has announced the elementary and middle school winners of the annual Word and Image exhibition.

The juried exhibit, sponsored by the Hough Family Foundation, is broken into four segments: elementary schools (letters A-M and letters N-Z), middle schools and high schools.

The theme this year was "Class Menagerie," which incorporated a written narrative of pets in the lives of children. The Art Center is at 719 Central Ave., St. Petersburg.

Winners of the first segment of the elementary exhibit A-M were named in November. The judge was Dave Ellis, artistic director at The Studio@620 Award winners were:

The Pinellas County Art Educators Association Young Artist Award went to Vienna Quattry, Madeira Beach Elementary.

Winners of the second segment of the elementary exhibit (N-Z) were announced at the center's Family Day on Feb. 12. The judge was Peter Tush, curator of education at the Dali Museum. Students' artwork will be on display through March 26 in the center's Risser Gallery, 719 Central Ave., St. Petersburg. Award winners were:
