ACC: Wolfpack gets scare but holds on

BLACKSBURG, Va. - Cameron Bennerman scored 26 and Tony Bethel made six 3-pointers as No.21 N.C. State held off a late rally to beat Virginia Tech 70-64 on Saturday.
The Wolfpack led the whole game with Bennerman and Bethel scoring the first 10 while the Hokies missed their first eight shots. The Hokies got within one twice in the first half, but the Wolfpack's 3-point shooting - 9-for-16 in the half - sparked a 21-4 run that made it 43-25 at halftime.
The Wolfpack led 47-25 early in the second half but went the final 6:19 without a field goal. Deron Washington launched a 9-0 run for the Hokies with consecutive baskets. His free throw at 12:39 began a 20-5 run that cut it to 61-58 with 1:21 left. The Wolfpack then held on by making 9 of 10 free throws during the last minute, including 8-for-8 by Bennerman.
MARYLAND 87, GA. TECH 84 (OT): Ekene Ibekwe scored five of his 14 during overtime for the host Terps, who had lost five of six coming in. Mike Jones' 3-pointer with 5:15 left put Maryland ahead 73-69. But the Yellow Jackets tied it five times, the final one on Jeremis Smith's two free throws with 39.2 seconds left. Ra'Sean Dickey's baseline jumper at the start of overtime put Tech up 80-78, but Maryland scored the next eight. After Ibekwe made a free throw for an 81-80 lead with 3:16 left, he drew a charge on the inbounds play. On the next possession, Ibekwe loped through the lane for a driving dunk, was fouled and made the free throw.

KANSAS ST. 72, COLORADO 60: Cartier Martin scored 18 of his 21 in the second half for the host Wildcats. Akeem Wright scored the first nine of a 13-2 run that put Kansas State up 46-43 midway through the second, and a 12-0 run followed.
TEXAS A&M 64, BAYLOR 60: Acie Law scored 18, including two free throws with 2.6 seconds left that sealed it for the visiting Aggies. Josh Carter's layup with 8.9 left put A&M up 62-58, but Tommy Swanson's tip-in cut it to two.
TEXAS TECH 70, NEB. 64: Jarrius Jackson scored 41 and LucQuente White hit a key jump shot with 39 seconds left to lead the visiting Red Raiders. Jackson scored the final nine of the first half for Texas Tech, then opened the second scoring 10 straight.
PENN ST. 69, PURDUE 61: Travis Parker scored 21 and the visiting Nittany Lions made 10 of 24 3-pointers. Up 34-29 at halftime, 3-pointers by Parker and David Jackson made it 52-37 midway through the second.
ARIZONA ST. 65, CAL 64 (2OT): Bryson Krueger's 3-pointer with 10.5 seconds left lifted the visiting Sun Devils. Ayinde Ubaka's basket for Cal with 22.7 seconds left forced overtime. And Theo Robertson's free throw with a second left forced the second overtime. Down 64-60, Kevin Kruger's basket cut it to two for Arizona State. After Leon Powe missed two free throws, Krueger's 3-pointer won it.
OREGON 67, WASH. ST. 37: Chamberlain Oguchi scored 18 to help the host Ducks beat the Cougars for the 10th consecutive time and 18th in 19 games. Oguchi and Aaron Brooks made consecutive 3-pointers to put Oregon up 21-8, and Washington State missed 20 of 23 shots to trail 30-10 at halftime.
LA. TECH 54, S. ILLINOIS 51: Paul Millsap scored 25 on 9-of-14 shooting for the visiting Bulldogs, who led 27-25 at halftime. Millsap also had six rebounds and blocked three shots. The Salukis lost their comeback opportunity by shooting 35 percent in the second half.
GEORGE MASON 70, WICHITA ST. 67: Tony Skinn made a 3-point shot with 10.8 seconds left as the visiting Patriots held off a late comeback. The Shockers had a final chance, but P.J. Couisnard's fadeaway 3-point attempt missed the rim at the buzzer.
