PLANT CITY - A man was hospitalized this week after his car collided with a truck after he ran a stop sign, according to Hillsborough sheriff's deputies.

Antonio Jimenez, 22, was airlifted to Tampa General Hospital on Wednesday after the 1992 Dodge Dynasty he was driving crashed with a 2006 Ford F-150 truck on State Road 60 near Sydney Washer Road.

His condition was not available from the hospital Thursday.

Investigators said Jimenez ran a stop sign while traveling south on Sydney Washer Road and drove into the westbound lane of State Road 60, then struck the left side of the truck.

Francisco Nives, 37, a passenger in Jimenez's car, was taken to Lakeland Regional Medical Center with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Nives' condition was not available.

Kevin Oswald, 45, and Kainan Oswald, 14, both of Plant City, were in the Ford F-150. They were taken to Brandon Regional Medical Center, where they were treated and released.

An investigation into the accident continues.
