Sports as it should be

Re: He's way beyond "Rudy' and A long time coming, Friday

I have played sports all my life and reading Friday's paper just wanted to make me stand up and say finally someone has learned what sports are all about. They are about teamwork and friendship. The class that Merrimack, Mass., showed in letting an injured player score a point in her final season was great. As for the coach in Greece, N.Y., playing an autistic person, I have nothing but a huge thank you for promoting the teamwork. Congratulations to all of you for being true sportmen.

Silver not enough for Shelton?

Re: Stumble to silver, Friday

What a mean-spirited column. I'm sure Sasha Cohen did her best. Is winning Gary Shelton's only criterion?

Don't turn silver to brass

I read your column Friday about Sasha Cohen and became quite upset with your reporting of Thursday night's events. Your column was so negative and the headline "Stumble to silver" was deplorable. Could you not think of one positive thing to say about this young lady? After her falls, she not only continued her program with style and grace but also with a smile on her lovely face. I ask you, isn't this what the Olympics is all about?

The right stuff

Re: Kildow's glow goes far beyond medals, Tuesday, and Flowers' parental priorities good as gold, Wednesday

John Romano's recent articles on Lindsey Kildow and Vonetta Flowers show that we don't have to focus on negative news. Thank you so much for making the sports section a great read to start the day.
