HOLE OF THE DAY
No. 8
Par-4, 400 yards
The hardest hole of the day played to an average of 4.238. And the players at the top of the leaderboard played it best. Mark McNulty and Mark James birdied the hole as did Bruce Fleisher. Those were three of just 13 birdies at No. 8.
SHOT OF THE DAY
Hale Irwin's 5-iron approach to the par-3 17th stopped 3 feet from the cup and set up a much-needed birdie. When he also birdied the 18th hole, he was tied for the lead.
STAT OF THE DAY
Loren Roberts has shot 11 consecutive rounds at par or better on the Champions Tour after a 69. That is the tour's best streak.
QUOTE OF THE DAY
"My goal was to not get sued by a spectator. And so far, I accomplished that." - former tennis star Jim Courier, who played with pro Curtis Strange, one of 12 teams to advance to the final day.
