School Board candidate arrested

LECANTO - Michael "Joey" White, a candidate for the District 1 School Board seat, was arrested Monday evening on a warrant charging him with culpable negligence and exposure to harm, according to a Citrus County Sheriff's Office arrest report. White, 35, of 11805 N Par Ter., Dunnellon, was arrested at 5:23 p.m. at the Citrus County jail. Bail was set at $750. The charges stem from a Jan. 26 incident in which White was accused of driving off W Venable Street near N Dunkenfield Avenue and nearly hitting two children: a 9-year-old Crystal River boy and a 10-year-old Homosassa boy, said sheriff's spokeswoman Gail Tierney. A man told investigators that after the incident, White slid his vehicle to a stop at a residence on Seven Rivers Drive, nearly hitting the man in the legs, Tierney said.
