3 area Atlanta Bread Company locations close without notice

Three locations of the Atlanta Bread Company - in St. Petersburg, Clearwater and Tampa - have closed abruptly, but the company hopes to have them back open soon.
The bakery-cafes were franchises run by operator Kelly Cook, said Jennifer Madison, communications manager for Atlanta Bread, a national chain based in Atlanta that has 165 locations in 27 states. It serves soups, salads, sandwiches, baked goods, coffees and a variety of breads.
The three restaurants closed Tuesday evening, Madison said, adding that she did not know why. Cook was unavailable for comment, and a spokesman provided no answers.
Madison said the company will take over the restaurants from Cook but probably will seek franchise interest in the future.
"We are working to reopen as quickly as possible," Madison said of the three locations. "Hopefully within the next week or two."
The St. Petersburg location was in the Midcore Garage downtown. It opened in 2001. In Tampa, the Atlanta Bread Company on Citrus Plaza Drive has been in operation since 2000. In Clearwater, Atlanta Bread on U.S. 19 opened in 2000.
