  • For their own good

Brownstones of Palma Ceia

By MICHAEL CANNING
Published March 3, 2006

LOCATION: Bay to Bay Boulevard and Himes Avenue.

DEVELOPER: Jason Woods of Statewide Associates Inc., Tampa.

DESCRIPTION: Five buildings containing 29 three-story townhomes are proposed. Square footages will range from 1,340 to 2,600, and floor plans will range from two bedrooms with 21/2 bathrooms to three bedrooms with 31/2 bathrooms. A rendering of the project has not been completed.

PRICE: $389,900 to $619,900.

ARCHITECT: BDG Architects of Clearwater.

AMENITIES: Rooftop terrace and two-car garage for each unit; balconies on some units; granite countertops in kitchens and bathrooms; stainless steel appliances in kitchens; hardwood floors; wired for high-speed Internet access and security system.

WHAT THEY'RE SAYING: The Victorian brownstone-inspired look is a style different from the usual Spanish Mediterranean, president Woods said. "We're not building real, pure brownstones like they have up North," he said. "We do have a little bit of flare."

TIMELINE: The project is still in the early permitting phase. Demolition of the former Palma Ceia Christian Church, which occupies the site, should begin within 90 days, Woods said. Once construction begins, the project should take 14 to 16 months.

MOVE-IN DATE: Upon completion of construction.

FOR INFORMATION: Patty Kampsen at Florida Executive Realty, 832-5400.
