Army Colonel Kelvin L. George, son of Molly Thompson-George of St. Petersburg, recently was promoted to his current rank. He received his commission as a second lieutenant in 1982 and served with the 1st Battalion, 59th Air Defense Artillery, 8th Infantry Division in Germany until 1990.

He left active duty and served with the 201st Military Police Command District of Columbia Army National Guard until 1993, when he was assigned to the National Guard Bureau. He is currently National Guard Bureau senior Army adviser in Korea. He is a graduate of Boca Ciega High School and Florida A&M University and earned master's degrees from John Hopkins University and the Naval War College.

Army Pvt. Walt G. LeMaire, son of Melody LeMaire of St. Petersburg, recently graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga., and has reported for advanced individual training at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas.

Air Force Airman Casey Carroll, daughter of Amy Carroll and Mathew Carroll, both of St. Petersburg, has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. She is a 2005 graduate of Boca Ciega High School.

Army Pvt. Clyde A. Brown, son of Helle S. Brown of St. Petersburg, has graduated from ammunition specialist advanced individual training at Redstone Arsenal, Huntsville, Ala. He is a 2005 graduate of Osceola High School, Seminole.

Navy Airman Kristina L. Duvall, daughter of Angela M. Duvall of St. Petersburg, has completed Navy basic training with honors at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. She is a 2005 graduate of Pinellas Park High School.

The following recruits have graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.:

Army Pvt. Joshua N. Montemagno, son of Alfred Montemagno of St. Petersburg.

Army Pfc. Horatio N. White, son of Angelica White of St. Petersburg and a 1999 graduate of St. Petersburg High School.
