Entrance fees back at parkway beach

By Times Staff Writer
Published March 9, 2006

CLEARWATER - Beachgoers hoping to relax on the Courtney Campbell Parkway beach will again have to pay for the privilege.

Now that spring is here, the city has started collecting entrance fees to use the small roadside park. Most normal vehicles are charged a $10 flat fee to enter the beach. Oversized vehicles like motor homes are charged $15. Annual passes are available for $40. City officials started charging people last year to better regulate traffic on the small sandy strip on the south side of the road. From March 1 to 5, the city collected about $2,100 in entrance fees.
