Lawyers seek 3rd opinion

By Times Staff Writer

TAMPA - Two doctors didn't agree on whether a man accused of stalking American Idol finalist Jessica Sierra was competent to stand trial.

Thursday, attorneys on both sides of the case agreed to seek a third opinion.

Daniel Robert Young, 60, remained at the Orient Road Jail without bond, charged with one count of stalking.

Sierra has said that Young began calling her during the fall and posed as a music talent scout. He became more aggressive when she didn't return his calls, she said. He flew from California to Tampa on Jan. 17 to confront Sierra, who was visiting her grandparents here.

Sierra, a Tampa native, now lives in Tennessee. A judge has scheduled a hearing on March 27 to hear a report from the third doctor.
