NEW PORT RICHEY - A 45-year-old man led deputies on a car chase after burglarizing an Asian market, authorities said.

At about 6:45 a.m. Saturday, deputies saw Marc Jacques Adge, 2575 Ranchside Terrace, coming out through a broken door window from the Asian Market, 5205 State Road 54, a Sheriff's Office report says.

When a deputy ordered him, at gunpoint, to get out of his car, Adge took off. Two patrol cars chased him until he got out and ran, eventually ending up in a pond off Rockaway Drive.

Once in custody, Adge used racial slurs and told deputies that American-Indian, Asian, black and Iraqi people should be in jail, the report said.

"So I broke into the Asian store. What's the big deal?" the report quotes him as saying. "They should be in jail, too."

Adge told deputies he had been drinking beer and using crack cocaine, the report says. He blamed crack dealers for his drug problem.

Adge suffered cuts to his face and wrist during the chase but declined medical treatment. In his car, deputies found beer, frozen fish, a screwdriver and door frame pieces that matched the door at the market.

Adge faces charges of burglary of a dwelling, resisting arrest, possession of burglary tools, burglary, criminal mischief, attempted break-in, fleeing to elude, possession of cocaine, driving under the influence, reckless driving, leaving the scene of a crash with property damage, and DUI with property damage.

He was held Sunday in Land O'Lakes in lieu of $33,000 bail.
