New faces for funny pages

By MIKE WILSON
Published March 23, 2006

The Boondocks - Aaron McGruder-s caustic and brilliantly funny comic strip about 10-year-old suburban black radical Huey Freeman - is going away. McGruder announced this month that he is taking a break and no new strips will be available until at least September.

We'll miss The Boondocks. But we see an opportunity, too.

Time to experiment. On Sunday we'll announce the addition - on a trial basis - of not one but four new strips. For a month you'll have a chance to sample some of the sharpest new comics on the market and give us your feedback. After that time we'll make more changes or leave things alone, depending.

Check out Sunday's Floridian to see what's coming.
