Dreamer: Inspired by a True Story DIRECTOR: John Gatins CAST: Kurt Russell, Dakota Fanning, Elisabeth Shue, Kris Kristofferson, Luis Guzman, Freddy Rodriguez, David Morse, Ken Howard, Oded Fehr SYNOPSIS: A girl (Fanning) and her father (Russell) save a horse with a broken leg and make him a champion again with the help of her grandfather (Kristofferson). WHAT WE SAID: The Times gave the movie a B. MPAA RATING: PG; brief crude language RUNNING TIME: 102 min. Chicken Little DIRECTOR: Mark Dindal CAST: Voices of Zach Braff, Garry Marshall, Don Knotts, Patrick Stewart, Amy Sedaris, Steve Zahn, Joan Cusack, Wallace Shawn, Harry Shearer, Fred Willard, Catherine O'Hara, Patrick Warburton, Adam West SYNOPSIS: The sky is falling, or perhaps it's an alien invasion scaring the feathers off Chicken Little (voice of Braff), whose false panics make him difficult to believe. Everything is Illuminated DIRECTOR: Liev Schreiber CAST: Elijah Wood, Eugene Hutz, Boris Leskin, Laryssa Lauret SYNOPSIS: Actor Liev Schreiber's directorial debut stars Wood as an American searching for the woman who saved his Jewish grandfather from the Holocaust with the aid of a Russian tour guide and his allegedly blind grandfather. WHAT WE SAID: The Times gave the film an A-. MPAA RATING: R; profanity, disturbing images, violence, sexual situations RUNNING TIME: 106 min. The Squid and the Whale DIRECTOR: Noah Baumbach CAST: Jeff Daniels, Laura Linney, Jesse Eisenberg, Owen Kline, Anna Paquin, William Baldwin, Halley Feiffer SYNOPSIS: Baumbach's semi-autobiographical film about the impending divorce of his parents, played by Daniels and Linney. Nominated for an Academy Award for original screenplay. WHAT WE SAID: The Times gave the film an A-. MPAA RATING: R; sexual content, graphic dialogue and language RUNNING TIME: 80 min. Paradise Now DIRECTOR: Hany Abu-Assad CAST: Kais Nashef, Ali Suliman, Lubna Azabal, Amer Hlehel, Hiam Abbass SYNOPSIS: Two young Palestinians accept a suicide bombing mission targeting Israeli troops. The film unfolds something like a documentary until its crackling final-act tension. With English subtitles. Nominated for an Academy Award for foreign language film. WHAT WE SAID: The Times gave the film a B. MPAA RATING: PG-13; mature themes, brief profanity RUNNING TIME: 90 min. In the Mix DIRECTOR: Ron Underwood CAST: Usher, Chazz Palminteri, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Anthony Fazio, Matt Gerald, Robert Davi, Kevin Hart, Robert Costanzo, K.D. Aubert, Jennifer Echols, Page Kennedy, Misti Traya SYNOPSIS: Palminteri plays a mobster who doesn't appreciate a nightclub DJ (Usher) making moves on his daughter. WHAT WE SAID: The Times did not review this film. MPAA RATING: PG-13; sexual content, violence and language RUNNING TIME: 105 min.
