Troopers checking for licenses, vehicle defects through month's end

Florida Highway Patrol officers are conducting license and vehicle inspections through March 31 during the day. Officers will check for drivers' licenses, registration and insurance, and note vehicle defects such as broken headlights, broken taillights or bald tires. Most drivers leave with a friendly warning or citations for some offenses, Trooper Larry Coggins said. "An officer will use the same discretion he uses on a normal traffic stop," Coggins said.
