PLANT CITY - A 39-year-old woman was killed Thursday when her car collided head-on with a 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier that jumped into her lane. Glinda S. Sprowes of Seffner was killed. The Florida Highway Patrol said Lorenzo T. Morales, 21, of Dover drove the Cavalier west on U.S. 92 Thursday morning when the car entered the eastbound lane and swerved into Sprowes' path, totaling her 1990 Buick Le Sabre sedan and throwing it into the south shoulder of U.S. 92. She died at the scene.

The collision closed U.S. 92 east of Gallagher Road for about two hours. Ambulances carried Morales and his passenger, Alfonso Moncon, 24, of Dover, to Tampa General Hospital with nonlife threatening injuries, FHP spokesman Trooper Larry Coggins said.

FHP officials don't know what caused Morales to enter the wrong lane. Charges are pending against him, Coggins said.
