Hot cars line up for fiesta prizes

By Barbara Fredricksen
Published March 26, 2006

Vehicles of all kinds and shapes will line up around Orange Lake in downtown New Port Richey today for the 8th annual Chasco Car, Truck and Bike Show. The show is from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., just one of the many Chasco Fiesta activities today and every day through April 2.

The participants will vie for more than 100 trophies, 200 dashboard plaques, door prizes and "Specialty Trophies" at the show.

Proceeds are donated to the Pasco Education Foundation. Registration is $15, with multi-car discounts. A presentation of awards is at 3 p.m.

Of course, much more is going on today, including a show by the winners of the Talent Search from noon to 5 p.m. and the Magical Night of Disney from 6 to 9 p.m., the Native American Festival and the West Pasco Sertoma Beef BBQ.

For the first time since it was started, the West Pasco Kiwanis Flea Market will begin today and continue through Tuesday, instead of the former Monday through Wednesday format. The flea market is in the New Port Richey Recreation Center on Van Buren Street north of downtown.
